On Saturday I spent my day at Be:Fit London--I'd been ridiculously excited about it for ages, as you may have noticed. It sells itself as the UK's only health & fitness festival specifically for women, and the array of classes, brands and speakers it had really appealed to me, so I think they've done a great job in setting up an event that's perfect for their target market. I love my fitness kit and accessories (and food) almost as much as I love fitness itself so the whole thing was a wonderland of new trends, ideas and opportunities for me.
I went right for opening as I'd heard that weekend days could get busy and I was really glad I did as it definitely got packed by about mid-day.
First up was just figuring out where everything was. I stopped in at the Press Centre where the super helpful Kate set me up with info, and then headed over to the Luxe Lounge, as I'd treated myself to the full package of indulgence for the day. Regular tickets are £18 and Luxe Lounge starts from £75 but includes access to the lounge, a cloakroom to keep all your stuff (and you'll probably collect a lot of it over the day!), a massage and a glass of bubbly.
Then it was off to explore the crazy number of stands. I really didn't know where to start and I was worried that I wouldn't have time to get to everything I wanted and also to speak to the brands in enough depth. At the end of the day, it was a valid worry. With the classes, talks and massage booked in, I was definitely a bit tight for time so I targeted a few key brands that were new to me and I wanted to chat to properly and made my way there.
Next up was a talk about health rewards (I didn't realise when I booked that it was sponsored by Vitality and was a bit of a sales pitch, but they had the incredibly inspiring Paralympian Mark Colbourne as a speaker so it was actually pretty good in the end) followed by Seen On Screen Dance's Uptown Funk workshop. This and the Equinox Elimin8or class were by far the highlights of the day for me. I had such a good laugh in the dance workshop and Elimin8or was a killer workout.
I also paid a quick visit to the Total Greek Yogurt kitchen where they were doing live recipes.
All in all it was a fantastic day and I just wish I'd had more time to chat to some new brands that I spotted. If you're interested in new nutrition, fitness and health trends, you should definitely check out Be:Fit London next year.
Here are my top tips to make your visit next year a great one:
- Book early and pay the £1 fee to pre-book classes. The sample classes from top gyms was hands-down the best part and paying a small fee to ensure you have a place is a no brainer.
- Plan ahead. Look at the list of brands ahead of time and figure out which you want to see most.
- Bring water! Although there are lots of food and juice and drink samples, it's catered by the standard trade show cafe places which charge £1.50 for water so bring your own.
- If you can, upgrade to the Luxe Lounge so you and your friends can treat yourselves to a massage and glass of bubbly at the end of the day.
And if you want to check out some great brands that I'd recommend from my time chatting to them, here are a few of my faves (more detailed blogs to come later in the week!).
